If you’ve been hesitating about putting your home on the market, you might be wondering whether now that autumn has arrived you’ve left it too late.
Although spring and early summer are usually thought of as the peak season for the property market, October and early November are also great times to sell. And with buyer demand at an all-time high and prices continuing to climb, this autumn is especially good.
Here are a few reasons why now is the best time to put your house on the market.
Autumn sales can happen fast
Autumn tends to be the season for serious buyers who are keen to move in before Christmas. They are likely to make sensible offers and then be keen to get the ball rolling to make the move happen as quickly as possible. This autumn, now that the rush to move before the September 30th stamp duty deadline has passed, conveyancers and removal companies are going to be less busy and so more able to work to tighter timescales.
Focus on making your home as cosy as possible
With the weather being a little colder and the days shorter, a warm, cosy and light-filled homes is going to make the best impression on potential buyers. Add rugs, cushions or throws if you don’t already have them, turn the heating on, and add a few lamps to supplement natural light.
Don’t neglect the garden
More than ever, a garden is a strong selling point, even now that summer is over. Keep the lawn today, rake up leaves and if you don’t already have autumn colour, fill some pots with bright chrysanthemums or plants with spectacular autumn foliage.
