Restaurants to Visit in Rugby, Warwickshire

It’s been a long, long wait, but the day when we can finally go indoors to eat and drink in our favourite pubs, cafes and restaurants is just around the corner.

Since 12th April, we’ve had to deal with the vagaries of English spring weather when planning to meet up for a drink or a meal. But from Monday 17th May, we can leave the umbrellas and jumpers behind when we pop out for a pint or a pizza.

Things won’t quite back to pre-covid normal, of course. The “rule of six” (that is, six people or two households) will apply to all indoor hospitality venues, you’ll have to order from your table and wear a mask if you leave your table to go to the loo, for example. Social distancing measures will still be in place, with tables well-spaced or separated by screens. But you won’t need to order a scotch egg with your Pinot Grigio and neither will you be thrown out at 10pm!

If you haven’t already decided where to go to celebrate the return of indoor eating after 17th May, here are some favourites in the local area.

As it looks like foreign holidays are largely off the menu this summer, the first five on the list should remind you of some of your favourite holiday destinations.

Café Vin Cinq allows you to savour the Parisian bistro experience in a chic French environment.

Lovers of all things Italian should try Chicco Di Caffe for a fix of La Dolce Vita.

If you love the Spanish early evening tradition of tapas, then you’ll find a great selection at Bacco Lounge.

Mexican themed La Casa Loco will serve you up with some fiery cuisine to accompany the tequila cocktails.

If you yearn for some authentic Thai cuisine, then head to Herb and Spice.

The next five will tempt those who are looking for some good old British fare.

Draycote Hotel, in the grounds of Whitefields Golf Club serves up one of the best Sunday lunches around.

On The Rocks offers a unique twist on steak and chips. Here, you do the cooking at your table using individual super-heated lava rocks.

Our adopted national dish of Tikka Masala (and other curries of course ) can be enjoyed at The Curry Club Indian Restaurant.

If you are looking for a traditional pub menu, then you’ll find a wide choice of British pub classics at The Bank.

And finally, why not indulge in the great British traditional afternoon tea at Tea at Rainbows in Bilton? You’ll be spoilt for choice if you’re a cake-lover.

So, get booking and enjoy taking another step back to normal life!
